Mayan Dynasty formed in San Francisco in 2013 with a simple vision: feel good music to make people dance. Born in San Francisco’s Mission District, Mayan Dynasty was influenced by the sounds heard playing from the neighborhood’s windows and Low Riders of its residents. Fusing Latin Rock with an eclectic blend of hip-hop, R&B, funk and reggae, the band serves up explosive renditions of popular soul, hip hop, & reggae favorites from Erykah Badu, 2Pac, Biggie, The Marleys, Lauryn Hill, Toni Tony Tone, and puts their own spin on songs from Latin Rock, Funk & R&B music legends such as Santana, War, Malo, Curtis Mayfield, Sly & the Family Stone, Sade, Funkadelic, The Gap Band and more. This gumbo of various genres of music is what sets Mayan Dynasty apart from other bands in the Bay Area.

A typical Mayan Dynasty gig features hard-hitting Latin & Caribbean rhythms. Riding high on jam-packed shows throughout the Bay Area, from the stages of Balançoire, Hex Lounge, Bissap Baobab, and our popular First Friday’s Party at local neighborhood bar The Ave to outdoor festivals in SF, the East Bay, South Bay and beyond, Mayan Dynasty continues to break new ground, merging modern and classic sounds to make you move.
